Swim Diaper Recommendation
We recommend children to wear swim diapers that have elastic around the leg openings for three specific reasons. The first reason is that swim diapers with elastic around them do not leak fecal accidents when they occur. Normal swim diapers tend to leak which can cause sanitary problems in the pool. Our main concern is the children’s health. A couple of years ago in an Atlanta pool, the pool was contaminated with E-Coli bacteria caused by fecal accidents by children wearing normal swim diapers bought in the store. The e-coli bacteria caused the death of two children. Usually chlorine in the pool takes care of most bacteria associated with these kinds of accidents in pool water, but it is best to take the utmost precaution and try to prevent these problems from happening. The swim diapers with elastic around the leg openings will prevent spreading bacteria in the pool because the elastic prevents leaks where the normal swim diapers' leakage occurs. The second reason why we recommend swim diapers with elastic around them is that they are much more comfortable for children to wear compared to normal swim diapers. They do not get filled with water like normal swim diapers, which tend to weigh the child down. The third reason why we strongly recommend swim diapers with elastic around them is that they allow the children to move their legs more easily in the water, which is very important when teaching a child how to swim in the water. They do not contain cotton to bulge out the sides which inhibit free movement the way that normal swim diapers do. A factor you may also want to consider is that buying one reusable swim diaper, which we sell for $10 compared to $17 elsewhere, with elastic around the leg openings will save you money in the long run and help our environment.
